14th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities

The 14th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA) was held in Kyiv on 21-22 May 2012. This year's event was hosted by the National Data Protection Authority of Ukraine. Among the participants at the meeting were representatives of data protection authorities from Poland, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Estonia, Montenegro, Russia, Hungary, Moldova, Bulgaria and Albania.

The event was attended by Wojciech Wiewiórowski, PhD, Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data, who delivered a speech on the new legal framework for data protection in the European Union.

Two declarations were adopted during the meeting:

The first was the Declaration on New Members of the Group of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities, which admitted data protection authorities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro as members of the Group.

In the second of the adopted declarations, the members of the Group of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities expressed their support for European data protection reform.

It was also decided that the 15th CEEDPA meeting will be held in 2013 in Serbia, while the 16th will be organised in 2014 in Macedonia.
